Marble Mountains Guide
Caves, shrines and views
The main mountain, Thuy Son, is honeycombed with caves holding Buddhist and Hindu shrines, lit by shafts of daylight. Climb to the viewpoints for a panorama over Da Nang and the coast. Wear grippy shoes, as the marble steps get slippery.
Elevator or stairs
A glass elevator takes you up the first and main mountain for a small fee, saving the initial staircase, though you still walk and climb among the caves at the top. The stairs are free if you prefer them and are reasonably manageable.
How to visit
The hills sit about 20 km from Hoi An toward Da Nang, an easy half day. A private tour pairs them with the giant Lady Buddha statue and Monkey Mountain, or a taxi works fine if you want to explore at your own pace.
