Fly into Da Nang

Hoi An has no airport, so all routes funnel through Da Nang International, the third-busiest airport in Vietnam, with domestic flights from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City and a growing list of international routes. From the terminal, the old town is about 45 minutes south.

Transfer options

For most travelers a pre-booked private transfer from $5 is the best value: a fixed price, no haggling, and a driver holding your name on arrival. Metered taxis and ride-hailing apps are available too, and budget shuttle buses run the route for less if you do not mind waiting and sharing.

Getting around once you arrive

In Hoi An itself you mostly walk and cycle, since the old town is small and largely car-free in the evenings. For day trips to the Golden Bridge, My Son or Marble Mountains, an organised tour or a private car is the easy choice.
