An Bang: the easy favourite
An Bang is the beach most travelers mean when they say the Hoi An beach. It is a short flat ride from the old town, lined with relaxed cafes and bars, and the water is calm and shallow through the summer. Come for sunset drinks even if you do not swim.
Cua Dai: quieter, partly eroded
Cua Dai was the original resort beach and still has the big hotels, but years of erosion have narrowed parts of the sand. The northern end near An Bang is the nicest stretch. It is calmer and less busy than An Bang on weekends.
My Khe and Da Nang
For a long, wide resort beach, head 30 minutes north to My Khe in Da Nang. It is the big-city beach with high-rise hotels behind it, popular with domestic tourists and good for a half-day trip.
Best way to reach them
The nicest approach is by bike. A flat morning countryside ride from $30 weaves through rice paddies and finishes near the coast, so you see the villages on the way. See our countryside tours guide for the longer Vespa option.
Ride to the coast
A flat morning bike loop through the paddies to the beach, with a local guide.
